1 Star Not as protective as I had hoped for
I purchased this case to keep my Kindle safe from screen damage while travelling. This was my sole criteria since I find the case that shipped with the Kindle as being sufficient for all other purposes.

This case is not as hard shell as I had hoped for. The external protective material feels more like cardboard than anything else and has a fair amount of give to it when pressed. I am not confident that this case provides any more protection that the original case and the “hard shell” moniker is missapplied.

I bought this thinking it would be a hard shell case. It’s basically a soft shell. It won’t protect your Kindle from damage

5 Stars The Best Alternate Kindle Case!
If you are looking for an alternate case for your Kindle, THIS IS IT! My wife uses this Kindle (we each have one) without the original case because she finds the original case too large to hold while reading. She used the original case just as a holder when she isn’t reading. She also needed a place to store SD cards she uses to better organize her books and music till Amazon updates the software to include the ability to make folders.

This case is perfect for someone who just wants to use their Kindle without the original case or as an alternative carry case. They are very well made, with a hard exterior on the outside and a net type pocket inside that is good for holding extra SD cards or a screen cleaner. Double zipper is well made and allows the case to fully open and bend backward. It truly is water resistant. It comes with an excellent screen protector for the Kindle that is clear & actually reduces screen glare. I’ve seen reviews of screen protectors that aren’t what they claim. This one is. It can be removed without leaving a residue (no adhesive) & even washed and put back on.

The case can be opened to the point it can be folded back without damaging it, like the Kindle’s original cover. You may want to stick some velcro dots to hold the net pocket closed if you intend to read this way just to make sure nothing falls out. This is a minor detail that was easily resolved in under a minute with the velcro.

The case comes with a velcro stretch band that stretches vertically to hold the Kindle securely inside. We actually shook the case with the Kindle strapped in to see if it would slide out horizontally and it didn’t budge at all. We opened the case all the way and folded it back on itself (like the original Kindle case can do) and discovered that this strap can be useful keeping the case open this way if someone wanted to. This enables you to choose to read with the Kindle in the case (There is nothing holding it there at this point but your hand while you read.) or taking it out of the case to use if this feels uncomfortable. (My wife said it was comfortable at least for short reads- her hands are smaller.) The absolute only drawback is that it doesn’t have the securement notch to hook into the back of the Kindle like the original case does. Again, we bought this as an alternate Kindle holder and use both (which ever works best at the time). Since my wife likes to use the Kindle out of the case anyway this isn’t a problem. It’s really well made and the best we found on Amazon after reading reviews of others. We also received this EARLY from this company. I may buy another for myself.
